dreams and reality
Monday, September 10th, 2007Last May 3 of this year was the anniversary of my OJT days at my previous company. I had a big head start against some of my other peers, since I was already hired by the same company few days before I marched to take my diploma in B.S in Information Management. I started my internship on just photocopying and binding training materials for the marketing department. Paper cuts and jammed printers were my enemies during these times. I did client calls to confirm attendees from partners for their training schedules. During those times, I’m quite satisfied on what I do. Maybe this is just right for me; I didn’t mind doing this at all. For all I know, every interns do this kind of stuffs, too.
Everyone starts small. Everyone starts from the bottom. But not everyone should think they have to be there forever. We have to aim high. Mediocrity will not take us to places.
And then, I learned that I was not just meant to photocopy or bind training materials. There is something more. We began to sit-down on the trainings that I am preparing for. Technical training and/or sales trainings about the products that my previous company offers. Then later on, we were given a specific product to master and present at the end of our OJT program. And this is when my real IT experience began.
Up to this day, I would ponder and I still can’t believe that I’m here in the corporate world and in the IT field at the same time. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by this scenario, but I try not to get this on my head too much. I have to keep my feet stay put on the ground; after all, I still have so much to learn.
My goals and dreams became more vivid to me. I am much driven to what I needed to do and what I want the most.
Everybody dreams of being successful, and as for me, this is what I do to succeed.
